Duplex 31803 (1.4462/F51)
High-strength duplex alloy engineered for corrosion resistance and durability in chloride-rich environments.
Duplex 31803
Duplex 31803 stainless steel (also known as UNS S31803, 1.4462, or F51) is a dual-phase alloy featuring a balanced austenitic–ferritic structure. This combination delivers excellent mechanical strength, superior resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion, and strong fatigue and stress corrosion cracking resistance, especially in chloride-heavy environments.
With its high chromium (21–23%), molybdenum (2.5–3.5%), and nitrogen content, Duplex 31803 is ideal for aggressive conditions such as offshore oil rigs, chemical processing plants, desalination systems, and marine structures. It performs reliably under pressure and thermal stress, making it a trusted material for critical components such as heat exchangers, pipelines, and structural supports.
Its robust strength-to-weight ratio, good weldability, and cost-effectiveness make Duplex 31803 a practical, long-term solution for corrosive and high-load environments.
