314 Stainless Steel (1.4841)
314 stainless steel is a high-temperature alloy known for excellent oxidation resistance, strength at elevated temperatures, and durability in demanding industrial environments.
314 Stainless Steel
314 stainless steel (1.4841) is an austenitic, heat-resistant stainless steel designed for exceptional performance in high-temperature applications. With a chemical composition rich in nickel (25–27%) and chromium (19–22%), it delivers outstanding resistance to oxidation and carburisation, making it ideal for furnace parts and thermal processing equipment.
The addition of silicon (around 1.5%) enhances its ability to withstand carburising atmospheres, while molybdenum (2–3%) improves resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion. This combination of alloying elements makes 1.4841 stainless steel a reliable material for use in aggressive, high-heat environments across sectors such as petrochemical, chemical processing, and power generation.
Thanks to its good mechanical properties, 314 offers high tensile and yield strength along with reliable creep resistance. It is a trusted choice for components that face sustained exposure to elevated temperatures, often being used alongside or in place of 310S (1.4845) stainless steel.
