310S Stainless Steel (1.4845)
Built to endure long-term strength, oxidation resistance, & thermal stability in pressure-critical, high-temperature environments.
310S Stainless Steel
Designed for prolonged exposure to elevated temperatures, 310S stainless steel (1.4845) offers a robust combination of heat resistance, mechanical strength, and metallurgical stability. Its high chromium (24–26%) and nickel (19–22%) content delivers exceptional protection against oxidation, sulfidation, and carburisation, even in furnace atmospheres exceeding 1000°C. This makes it particularly valuable in environments with thermal cycling, aggressive flue gases, or corrosive process media.
As the low-carbon variant of 310, 310S minimises the risk of sensitisation during welding, preserving corrosion resistance around heat-affected zones. This makes it a practical and dependable material for pressure vessels, heat exchanger tubing, exhaust stacks, and structural components exposed to both thermal and mechanical stress. Engineers in petrochemical processing, energy production, and heat treatment facilities frequently specify 310S when long-term stability under heat is non-negotiable.
